Environment variables
ASP.NET Core configuration: in the environment, : becomes __ (Panel:PublicUrl → Panel__PublicUrl). The compose file sets them from .env (Install the panel).

Values from the environment win over the admin area’s settings, and are shown there read-only. The database connection and the master key are environment-only, because the panel needs them before it can read its settings.
