The template editor

New game, or Edit / Duplicate on a game, opens the editor.

The game editorThe game editor
  • General: name, description, id
  • Runtime: images, startup command, ready line, stop
  • Ports by role
  • Variables
  • Config files
  • Player count and Remote console (RCON)
  • Console prompts
  • Steam download and Workshop
  • Install script

What each one means: Template format.

While you edit, the preview checks the game and shows:

  • whether the game is valid, and what’s wrong if not
  • the startup command and the config values, as a new server would get them
  • the YAML, to download, e.g. for a catalogue

Saving increments the version only when something changed. Running servers use the new version from their next start; changes to the install apply on reinstall.

Create a server from it on a node, ideally a test node:

  1. Watch the install’s output in the console.
  2. Start, and check that the ready line turns the server running.
  3. Check the ports with a game client, and the player count on the server page.
  4. Stop, and check that the stop command ends the server before its timeout.
